new singer announced!
It is official now people that former member of The JD Theory 'Marcus Deblaere' is our new singer and bandmember, we welcome him!! The idea was to help us out for a little while since our previous singer Jef quit the band in September but we have talked things over and Marcus is really enthusiastic about being a part of the maple room. So we are happy to make an official statement that Marcus is our new singer as of now!
We want to thank those who wrote us for auditions, it's good to know that people are still interested in us, makes us feel great! We hope that you will come check us out somewhere soon. We still have a few more shows this year so please come and say hi.
We are working hard on some new tunes, Marcus is already writing down some vocal lines and lyrics. We are very excited about it, hope you guys are too! We will be pre-recording in December and hope to play a new song within a few weeks, another good reason to come watch us live. Check our show section for more info on shows.
We posted some new bandpictures so leave us some comments plzzz.

We played the Taste Of Chaos show yesterday, it was awesome! We got good reactions from a lot of people, thank you! It was Marcus' fist show so it means a lot to us!
We met some nice people at the merch and backstage, we got the chance to hang out with the guys from Story of the year, fuck yea! They even put us on the guestlist for the Belgian show, we are honoured!!
We are working on some more shows, they will be announced soon so keep your eyes on our myspace. Next up is a 2 day trip with our friends of Sparkle of Hope. On October 17th we will be playing in Essen (Ger), watch the flyer in our picture section for more info. And on October 18th we're playing Bulletproof fest in Vorselaar (BE), that's also with Sparkle of hope and our homies Campus so be there!
On Tuesday October 21st we will be having an interview for a Dutch Radio station Omroep Best. They already interviewed bands such as Nailpin, Di-Rect, ... It will be aired a week later or so. We'll keep you up to date!

TASTE OF CHAOS Nederland!
A few days ago we got the great news that we will be playing the Taste Of Chaos show in 013, Tilburg. We will be opening band though but that's quite OK. The line-up has been changed a little bit as Atreyu and As I Lay Dying will not be playing that night. Story of the year remains headliner of the show, we are really looking forward to play with them.
We hope to see our Dutch fans there at the 8th of October. Doors open at 6pm, we will be playing around 7pm so please come early. Also; it will be our first Dutch show with a new singer so come and check it out!
We are currently working on more show in Netherlands. We have some good news for the people who had planned to see us live @ Waterfront a few weeks ago. We were sorry we had to cancel but we got a new date to perform i.e. 19th of December. Venue remains the same. San Andreas has joined the line-up that evening. We hope to see the people there who missed us next time ...

JEF IS LEAVING THE BAND
We have the sad news that our singer Jef Van Doninck is leaving the band. After 5 years of playing numerous gigs, touring and standing by our side Jef decides to call it quits. We have been through a lot together and yea we have all had our issues in the band though we do not regret anything we have done so far. We are very proud of the last five years that the maple room went through. Jef has been there since the very beginning of the band so it is no surprise that it feels weird knowing he won't be there with us on stage in the future.
Fact of the matter is that Jef has not always been comfortable in the band as a singer, you can read all about it below in Jef's statement. We respect his decision and of course we will still be friends afterwards. Jef we will be missing you, good luck with your wife Janne and your life besides the band!
It has not been easy for us since the release of 'a glimpse of the inside', first our bass player Roel quit the band last year in July 2007 and now Jef also signs off as singer. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE END!!! We have always been persistent. We still have some shows coming up and working on more. In fact, we have been writing some new stuff that we are very excited about to record somewhere beginning of 2009.
For now, Marcus Deblaere (former member of JD Theory) will be helping us out at our live shows. He already did guest vocals for us for the song 'The Endeavour', we have put the song on our myspace profile so take a listen. (www.myspace.com/themapleroom)
This means we will be playing all our shows as planned. We are not sure yet on what is going to happen in the future, Marcus will be helping us out and we will see how everything developes and how Marcus feels as being a part of the band. All good things come to an end. With pain in my heart I made the decision to leave the band that controlled my life in a positive way for the last five years. It was a crazy ride and I have made a lot of friends during that ride. But most of all I got myself 5 brothers who were there with me all the time. Every family has his troubles and arguments and so had ours...
When people look back on their lives they try to highlight all the positive things that happened. When I look back to my maple room days I am proud of what we have accomplished in only a few years. The industry gave us a lot of chances but we wouldn't have got them if we hadn't worked our butts off. Since this is my moment of reflection I would also like to mention a few bad memories that will always be the black pages in my maple room history book. One of these moments was the departure of our bassplayer Roel a year ago, he was definatly missed. I got another personal shock when the rest of the band told me that my singing wasn't good enough when we were recording demo's for our second album two years ago. They got in a professional singer to do the vocals on the demo and i started taking vocal lessons. I did vocals again on 'a glimpse on the inside' but this haunted me the last few years and since than I have never felt 100% comfortable in the band anymore…
Priorities change… I recently got married to my lovely wife Janne. The band has put a major stamp on our social live & relationship but she always supported me all the way. To complete the picture we also bought a house a month ago (no, we're not thinking about kids!). This all took a lot of our free time, time that I would normally have put in the band. The vocal issues recently popped up again and I felt I had to 'relief' the band with my departure… I am taking a different road now and the band will go on their own journey and they will not have to carry my baggage anymore that might have slowed them down…
Thanks to everyone that kept supporting me during these 5 cool years. Hope to see all of my friends in bands again soon, this time as a face in the crowd. I also like to wish the band all the best, I hope they keep my spirit alive! So this goodbye for now…maybe forever.

Bio:
the.maple.room started out in the summer of 2003. This band rose from the ashes of bands such as Easy Way Out, Full Court Press, Area51, Rusk ... bands you might have heard of.
All members take this band very seriously, on stage and beyond. This is one of the reasons the band got signed on Funtime Records in the winter of 2004.
Heartfelt melodies, groundbreaking moshparts and an all out intensity, put in a blender and blasted out with a passion rarely seen, that is somehow the trademark of the.maple.room and the reason why a lot of kids instantly fell in love with them.
In March 2005 they presented their debut album 'uncover everyone'. With references like From Autumn To Ashes, Finch and Poison the Well, one can try to imagine how these guys rock, but the actual truth is that the.maple.room succeeded in creating a world of their own. A world that is ready to be explored by every fan of good and honest music. Heel spijtig om te horen. Maar ook blij dat er ook goed nieuws is. Het is precies een vreemde periode. Vond het ook heel spijtig van sparkle of hope.
