Play Festival zal in 2009 niet meer doorgaan in mei zoals vorig jaar, maar werd verzet naar september. voor 2 dagen kun je dan in de Hasseltse muziektempel Muziekodroom weer terecht voor het grootste talent uit België en omstreken. Net als vorig jaar wordt er ruim aandacht besteed aan een danceluik op zowel vrijdag als zaterdag.

|  | | Zullen we het vandaag eens hebben over Britney Spears. Ieder meisje geboren eind jaren tachtig, begin jaren negentig had deze Amerikaanse popzangeres als idool. Iedere jongen geboren eind jaren tachtig, begin jaren negentig kregen spontaan hun natte droom door Britney Spears.
Haar eerste nummer1-hit scoorde ze al meteen op haar zeventiende met "Baby, one more time". Ook daarna bleef ze de ene hit na de andere produceren. Britneys succes leek een ware droom. Alsof er nooit een einde aan zou komen. Maar net zo plots als het succes begon, kwam er ook een einde aan. Na de geboorte van haar 2 kinderen en de echtscheiding van haar tweede man Kevin Federline kwam Britney enkel nog negatief in de media: depressie, ruzies, drugs en noem maar op. Momenteel gaat het terug beter. Ze heeft haar talent nog steeds niet verloren en scoort momenteel een hit met 'Womanizer'. Britney heeft in haar tot nog toe korte leven al veel geld verdiend en vele prijzen gewonnen. De lijst lijkt eindeloos.
Ik weet nog dat mijn nicht en ik vroeger uren konden luisteren naar de heupschuddende klanken van Spears. (Gelukkig?) Die tijd is voorbij. Toch is Britney op deze leeftijd al een artiest om nooit te vergeten.
